Quarry Workers’ and Rural Integrated development Society [QWARIDS] is secular and not-for-profit organization established in the year 1986 under Societies Registration Act of Karnataka 1960 for the integrated development of quarry people and their communities. Mr. MANOHARAN is the founder of QWARIDS. We offer services to the young at risk like - child labourers, abandoned / orphaned children, victims of drug abuse, victims of child abuse, begging children, street children & rag pickers etc. Now, QWARIDS has spread its wings across the city of Bangalore urban and rural through 25 locations.

History & Origins

About 36 years ago (1974), Mr.J.Manoharan a group of young Christian workers’ (YCW) movement happened to visit some of the quarries owned by a private contractor in Krishnarajapuram (K.R.Puram), outside Bangalore city. Moved by the helpless conditions of quarry workers, Mr. MANOHARAN, from YCW movement decided to commit himself for the cause of the right of these quarry people along with his like-minded friends Fr.Saleema, Mr. Patrick, Mr. Hugo D’souza, T.C.Balaswamy and others founded a society for liberating quarry workers from oppression and bondedness. It was registered as a Society on the 25th April 1986 under Societies Registration Act of Karnataka 1960. Since its inception, the organization has been working round the clock for Liberation, Education and Organisation for integrated development of quarry and rural people.
