The Backdrop

About 36 years ago (1974), Mr.J.Manoharan a group of young Christian workers’ (YCW) movement happened to visit some of the quarries owned by a private contractor in Krishnarajapuram (K.R.Puram), outside Bangalore city. Moved by the helpless conditions of quarry workers, Mr. MANOHARAN, from YCW movement decided to commit himself for the cause of the right of these quarry people along with his like-minded friends like Fr.Saleema, Mr. Patrick, Mr. Hugo D’souza, and other founded a society for liberating quarry workers from oppression and bondeness. It was registered as a Society on the 25th April 1986 under Societies Registration Act of Karnataka 1960. Since its inception, the organization has been working round the clock for liberation, rehabilitation and integrated development of quarry and rural people.
